Mitch Eggers, Chief Executive OfficerMitch was formerly CEO of biomedical device companies Genometrix and GenVault; the latter venture-backed by Domain Associates ($2.5 billion life science fund) and awarded the 100 Most Innovative Companies worldwide in 2004. Most recently, he served as a Research Fellow in orthopedic surgery managing research for Southwest Orthopedic Group including sponsor-initiated clinical trials with Pfizer and P&G. Overall, Mitch has assembled and led research consortia among Fortune 500 companies (Pfizer, Motorola, Beckman) and leading academic institutions (MIT, BCM). He is a co-inventor on over 30 patents and is published in devices and orthopedics. Mitch earned a BS (honors), MS, and PhD in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, a MBA from Rice University, and is currently pursuing a MD at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) with an interest in orthopedic surgery. While at BCM, he serves as Director of the Emergency Medicine Interest Group coordinating the ER skills program and serves as a VP for the BCM Orthopaedic Surgery Society.
Lauren Karbach, Chief Operating OfficerLauren served as a Teaching Assistant for Washington University in St. Louis. Courses included organic chemistry, biochemistry, and genetics. She also conducted research with leading genomic researchers at Washington University including metabolic pathway analyses under the Genome Annotation Project that lead to a publication in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. More recently, Lauren has been conducting research in the Dept. of Orthopaedics at BCM regarding radiographic analysis of spinal trauma. She also serves as a Work Study Manager with the Emergency Medicine Interest Group at BCM where she co-developed the Patient Education Program, and serves as a VP for the BCM Orthopaedic Surgery Society. Lauren graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Chemistry from Washington University and is currently pursuing a MD at Baylor College of Medicine with an interest in pediatric orthopedic surgery.
Jedrek Wosik, Chief Financial OfficerJedrek was a former analyst for JP Morgan where he completed in excess of $600 million in bond financings for leading hospitals (e.g.- Texas Children’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic). He also modeled financing structures for hospitals and research organizations nationwide. As an Intern at the University of Texas, he created business plans for Lockheed Martin aimed at promoting commercialization of high-tech and bio-tech start-up companies. He was appointed as a Visiting Student Fellow at the University of Texas Health Science Center (Nanomedicine / Biomedical Engineering). Jedrek was awarded the Richard Nelson Memorial Endowed Presidential Scholarship at the University of Texas where he graduated with a BBA and BA in Finance and Economics and is currently pursuing a MD at Baylor College of Medicine with an interest in surgery.
Christa Brink, Chief Marketing and Personnel OfficerChrista has served 3 years as a researcher with the Department of Neurosurgery at Baylor College of Medicine where she investigated the physiological, hemodynamic, and neuroprotective effects associated with traumatic brain injury. Formerly at the University of Texas, she conducted research in biophysics using differential interference contrast microscopy and atomic force microscopy to study the vasoelastic properties of yeast cytoplasm. Christa is published in neurosurgery and has presented at international conferences. As a member of the Emergency Medicine Interest Group at BCM she volunteers at Ben Taub Emergency Center. Christa graduated with a BS in Radiation Physics from the University of Texas and is currently pursuing a MD at Baylor College of Medicine with an interest in surgery.
Rishi Kumar, Chief Information OfficerRishi served as a Teaching Assistant for Houston Baptist University for several labs including general biology, organic chemistry, organic analysis, physics, and virology. He is also the manager of RK Creations LLC and serves on Baylor Med’s admissions committee. He is certified at the Expert Level in a variety of technical fields and is proficient in Linux, OSX, Windows, PHP, HTML, and JavaScript. Rishi also conducted research studying the interactions between diruthenium and DNA using spectrophotometry, viscometry, and biosensors which was presented at international conferences. Rishi was awarded the Outstanding Student Award in the College of Science and Mathematics, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with BS degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry Molecular Biology from Houston Baptist University and is currently pursuing a MD at Baylor College of Medicine with an interest in microsurgery.
Katya Jordan, Chief Coordination OfficerKatya served over 3 years as a researcher in breast cancer and cardiovascular sciences for Baylor College of Medicine. She investigated surgery survival in mice upon ligation and subsequent occlusion of left anterior descending coronary artery. Katya also collaborated with a team investigating the effect of avian retroviral-induced oncogenes in mammary glands in promoting carcinogenesis in mouse models which was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. She was awarded a scholarship at the Universite de Louis Pasteur, Strausbourg, France. Katya served as a volunteer at Ben Taub Emergency Center. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Economics from the University of Houston and is currently pursuing a MD at Baylor College of Medicine with an interest in surgery.
